Hodges donates his JEMS stipend

The director of the Jamestown Emergency Medical Services, Rick Hodges, returned the $5,000 stipend he receives as Director of JEMS to the town of Jamestown and the money's to be used to purchase defibrillators for the Jamestown Police Department in memory of Jim Filkins. Filkins was the administrator of JEMS who passed away in February of this year.

The police department had several defibrillators and they recently received a donation to purchase new batteries, but the purchase of these three additional units will mean that all the Jamestown police cars will have these life-saving devices.

The Jamestown Police Department will receive three Philips Heart Start FRX defibrillators. An additional advantage of the Philips Heart Start FRX is that the pads on these machines are compatible with the larger version defibrillators carried on the JEMS ambulance.
