Grange elects new officers

The regular meeting of Newport County Pomona Grange was held on May 12 at Kickimuit Grange.

A delicious ham supper was served.

The grange honored Jamestown resident Charlotte Richardson for all her volunteer work, both in an out of the grange. She received two certificates, one from the National Grange and one from Newport County Pomona Grange and a basket of fruit. Election of officers was held with the following being elected for two years:

Master, Jeannette Kenyon; Overseer, George Towle; Lecturer, John Kenyon, Jr.; Steward, Henry Boyer; Lady Asst. Steward, Norma Elwell; Asst. Steward, Walter C. Elwell; Chaplain, Joan Oliveria; Treasurer, Scott Sherman; Secretary, Karen Miller; Gatekeeper, Germaine Bishal; Ceres, M. Frances Towle; Pomona, Kathy Boyer; Flora, Evelyn Ledger; Ex. Comm. 3 yr., Aurea Gutowski; and Ex. Comm. 1 yr., Juliette Miller.

The next regular meeting of Newport County Pomona #4 will be held jointly with Washington County Pomona at the Washington County Fair Grounds in Richmond on Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. The Providence County Pomona visits. There will be entertainment and a picnic to follow the meeting.
