Island treasures give students glimpse of future
 | | More than 40 adults volunteered their time and talent last week to demonstrate their careers and hobbies to students at the Lawn Avenue School. Thursday, May 24, was designated "Island Treasures," day, and included morning and afternoon workshops, from which students were able to choose based on their own interests. Here, Deputy Chief Howie Tighe suits up a group of future volunteer firefighters and teaches them to put out blazes. School Committee member, and parent Julie Kallfelz, discusses the importance of honeybees to the environment. Personal trainer Greg Murphy gave athletes some suggestions on how to warm up before performing their sports. Photos by Andrea von Hohenleiten |
