Grade six to debut films In October 2006, Deb Barone's sixth-grade students were introduced to a new world of possibilities and invited to participate in a novel educational film program called Student Provocateurs. While in the program, the class created a film about a child's right to healthy food. Student Provocateurs was founded by Bradford Davey of North Kingstown as part of an action research project through the School of Education at Pepperdine University. Ms. Barone's students have worked very hard to create an original feature film that addresses an important issue in such a way to increase the dialogue of those who watch it. Davey has created this film program to increase student awareness of democratic participation and the power of the medium of film. The film will be screened at the Melrose Avenue School on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. |
