Drunk driving charged

+ Robert J Barcellos, 27, of Providence, was stopped on North Main Road May 27 for running a stop sign and erratic driving, police said. He was charged with first offense drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test. Police discovered a warrant was out for his arrest for a concealed weapons charge in Westport, Mass.

Barcellos was arraigned and spent the night at the police station before being transported to the Adult Correctional Institute in Cranston the following morning. He was taken to Newport District Court on May 29 for a pretrial hearing for the drunk driving charge as well as a hearing for the outstanding warrant. A June 5 date was set for the refusal to take a Breathalyzer test charge, according to police.
