Catch the 'Follies' tonight
      The Jamestown Lions Club will host the Ocean State Follies this evening, Thursday, July 26, at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown Community Center, 41 Conanicus Ave. The Follies poke good-natured fun at the "state" of the state through song parodies and skits.

Fishing derby this Saturday
      The annual Kids Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Jamestown Striper Club, will take place this Saturday, July 28, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the North Pond Reservoir. Bait will be provided and lunch will be offered to contest entrants.

Hear big band music Sunday
      Summer music in Jamestown continues on Sunday, July 29, with the return of Mike Lyons and the Blue Moon Orchestra, a 17-piece "big band." This group was an audience favorite last summer and is back by popular demand. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. on the East Ferry Memorial Square.

CCRI driver classes offered
      Driver Education classes will be offered at the Jamestown Fire Station beginning on July 30 and running through Aug. 15. Class will meet Monday through Thursday mornings from 8 to 11 a.m. Students must be 15 years, 10 months old by the first class to be eligible to participate.

Islanders walk for cancer research
      Fran Gorman, Becky Andreozzi, Eileen Muldoon and Lindsay Muldoon will participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk that provides an opportunity to educate tens of thousands of people about breast health, including early detection.
