Two awarded Swinburne grants

Thirty Newport County women are continuing their educations this fall with scholarships totaling $56,750 from the Miss Swinburne Fund at The Rhode Island Foundation.

The fund memorializes Elizabeth H. Swinburne, who established a school in her Newport home to educate young women in the science and skills of household arts. From Jamestown, Danielle Brown will study early childhood education at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. Erin Brown, who will also attend Cedarville University, will study nursing.
