Barber given awards for clay art

Island artist Jillian Barber received the Mary Ann Carney Award for best work in clay at the 80th annual Members Show at the South County Art Association.

The show runs until Aug. 25 at the Helme House Gallery, 2587 Kingstown Rd., near the main entrance to the University of Rhode Island.

Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Barber also received the Teddy Goberis Award for excellence in ceramics and a Katherine Forest Foundation Award at the 51st Regional Show, held at the Mystic Arts Center in Mystic, Conn., through Sept. 22.
