Town workers change course on highway barn site

Rhode Island Local 69, the Jamestown Public Works Union called a special meeting on Aug. 21 for the purpose of revisiting the highway barn site selection position.

Previously the union supported Lot 47 for the site of the highway barn. After further discussion and consideration of additional information about the alternatives, the union has decided the following:

1. A highway facility is desperately needed as soon as possible.

2. The union body has no position as to what site is ultimately selected.

3. What site is selected is up to the voters.
