Drunk driving charged

•Patrick Byrne, 19, of 20 Fairview St., was charged Aug. 16 with first offense drunk driving after police witnessed Byrne run a stop sign at the corner of Narragansett Avenue and North Main Road. Byrne then ran off the roadway, police said.

Byrne was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 31 at Newport District Court, police said.

• John Yeomans, 51, of 20 Cole St., was charged Aug. 15 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after being stopped on West Street for er- ratic operation of his vehicle.

Yeomans was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 24 at Newport District Court, police said.

Marijuana possession charge

Raymond P. Jorgensen, 49, of West Warwick was charged Aug. 20 with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana. Jorgensen was stopped at Mackerel Cove after police saw him exit Beavertail State Park after closing time.

He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Aug. 31 at Newport District Court, police said.
