Band needs help with fund-raising

The Jamestown Community Band wants to thank Jim Pemantell for joining the band Sunday evening at the Concert on the Green and narrating our theme of "350 years of Music in Jamestown." We are grateful for how much he added to the mood of the evening.

While working with him we also learned about his running a marathon this fall as a fund-raiser. He will run in honor of 10-yearold Payton Watson, daughter of Frank, a sergeant with the Jamestown Police Department and Liz Goode Watson. Payton was diagnosed with leukemia, received a bone marrow transplant and is now recovering at home. Frank and Liz suggested he raise money for "the Tomorrow Fund," a group of people who provide financial and emotional support to families to help them make it through one of the most difficult times a family can face, their child's cancer treatment. "The Tomorrow Fund" is funded entirely through donations. If any readers would like to support his goal of raising $5,000 by Sept. 7, a check made out to "The Tomorrow Fund" can be mailed to him at: Jim Pemantell, 224 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, RI 02835.
