Nominate saying for town plaque

Island citizens are invited to participate in a competition to provide an appropriate quote to adorn the lobby wall of the new Town Hall.

Town Administrator Bruce Keiser said that residents should come up with a quote that is both timely and long-lasting, as it will be engraved on a plaque along with other information about the dedication of the new building. It will be placed on a wall that everyone will pass as they enter the building, Keiser said.

Quotes from ancient philosophers, literary figures, public servants and other famous individuals will be considered.

Quotes, which should be in the range of 15 words, should be submitted to Bruce Keiser at the Town Offices, 44 Southwest Ave., Jamestown, RI 02835.

The deadline is Friday, Sept. 14, and the winning quote will be selected by the town council.
