Cub Scout signup Wednesday night All Jamestown boys entering grades 1 through 5 who are interested in joining Cub Scouts are invited to meet representatives of Jamestown Pack One at the Pack's annual signup rally on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The rally will take place at the Fort Getty Pavilion and will start at 6 p.m. sharp. Pizza and soda will be provided. In Cub Scouting, boys and their families have fun and adventure in a program that builds character and instills values. Cub Scouting embraces the values of citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perseverance, positive attitude, resourcefulness, respect, and responsibility. These values come to boys in all parts of the Cub Scout program- all while they're having a great time with their friends and families. Cub Scouts in Jamestown participate in many fun activities throughout the year including a campout at the Conanicut Battery in October, the Pinewood Derby, the annual Blue and Gold Dinner, Science Night, Scout is Reverent Sunday, Bike Rodeo, and a campout at Fort Getty in May. Helping others is a core value of Cub Scouts, and the Pack conducts several food drives throughout the year for those in need. The registration fees are for $25 for new Cub Scouts or $15 for anyone transferring from another Pack. The fee includes a subscription to Boys Life Magazine. Current Cub Scouts in the Pack do not need to re-register until March. For more information about the rally or Cub Scouting, call Cub Master Bill Pratt at 423-1698. |
