9-11 remembered

On the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 American lives were lost after 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial jets and flew two of them into the World Trade Center towers in New York City. One plane was flown into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and the other was diverted and crashed into a rural area in Pennsylvania. On that day some 350 firefighters and first responders were lost. The Jamestown Fire Department set up a memorial to them so that their brave efforts in the face of disaster would never be forgotten. Photo by Donna Drago
