New children's music program to start

Cindy Olsen of Jamestown, a Kindermusik educator, will lead a musical learning program for families with preschool children beginning Oct. 1, in St. Matthew's Church music room from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

"Family Time" is the Kindermusik program that will continue Mondays for ten weeks. A free demonstration session will be conducted Monday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at the church.

Olsen said the program was developed by a team of music and child development specialists for all ages, to include newborns, their siblings and parents. "Family Time" is geared to help children develop musical and social skills. Olsen said, "This is a fun and enriching way for parents and their preschool children to spend time together, doing one activity as a family."

Each registered family receives a set of materials that include two children's books, two instruments, two CDs of songs, a family activity book and a puppet that is the featured character in the class.

Kindermusik International is the award-winning approach to child development through music, started in Europe in the 1960s. For details or to register, call Olsen at 608-2022.
