Violence prevention benefit set

The Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund will hold a dinner dance fundraiser, "Imagine: A World Without Relationship Violence, Benefit at the Beach," on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown.

The Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund was established in 2005 to honor the life of Lindsay Ann Burke, a 23-year-old Rhode Island College graduate from North Kingstown, who was brutally murdered. Lindsay was an education major and as such, this fund supports the prevention of relationship violence primarily through the education of teens, parents, educators, and the public.

All proceeds from this benefit will fund teen dating violence workshops and curriculum materials for Rhode Island middle and high school health teachers, as well as workshops on this topic for school staff, parents, and the public.

The evening will begin with cocktail hour at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by a buffet dinner and dancing to music provided by DJ Michael Delyi. Tickets are $50 per person. For more information, call 269-9353.
