URI hosts coastal cities forum

Coastal cities nationwide share challenges from withstanding hurricanes and providing public shoreline access to growing economically while balancing recreational, residential, commercial and industrial demands on the waterfront.

How Rhode Island cities- particularly Pawtucket, East Providence and Newport- can learn from the successes and failures of other cities along the U.S. coast will be the focus of "Creating Vibrant Waterfronts in Rhode Island," the Sixth Annual Ronald C. Baird Sea Grant Science Symposium, which will take place Oct. 19 and 20 at Corless Auditorium at the University of Rhode Island (URI) Graduate School of Oceanography in Narragansett. For the symposium agenda, registration information or directions, visit http://seagrant. gso.uri.edu/ccd/07symposium or call 874-6224.
