Holiday concert coming soon

The Jamestown Community Chorus will present its 2007 Holiday Concerts on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m., at the Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., in Jamestown.

A major highlight this year will be the chorus' performance of "Special Time of Year," a song in eight-part harmony written and arranged by Sam Bari.

The choral program, titled "Holiday Medley," also contains works by Handel, J.S. Bach, and Brahms, a selection of traditional English carols including those from Wexford, Sussex, and Somerset, the popular songs "Light One Candle" and "Silver Bells," and some humor, with "Throw the Yule Log on, Uncle John," by P.D.Q. Bach, and Craig Courtney's "A Musicological Tour Through the Twelve Days of Christmas."

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and children. Advance tickets will be available beginning Nov. 24 from Chorus members, or at the Secret Garden, Baker's Pharmacy, and Jamestown Hardware.
