Chamber Chatter

The Chamber hosted the annual Business Expo and Taste of Jamestown on Nov. 1 at the community center. The event had a large attendance, with people from both on and off the island getting a chance to meet and learn more about the many member businesses. In addition to learning about available services, attendees were treated to a "Chowda" tasting, courtesy of some of the best restaurants in town; Chopmist Charlie's, East Ferry Deli, Narragansett Cafe, Slice of Heaven, and Trattoria Simpatico.

The Chamber, along with some individual members, will be hosting some wonderful Christmas events during the month of December. The Secret Garden will once again be providing the beautiful bows that adorn the downtown shopping area. Peter Brockmann, of Brockmann Law Associates, and his wife, Michaela, will be hosting a Teddy Bear Tea at Trattoria Simpatico on Dec. 16, and the Polar Express Trolley will be traveling on Dec. 9, courtesy of Baker's Pharmacy and Jamestown Fitness Center. Both Santa and Mrs. Claus love to attend these functions, so keep your eyes out for jolly guests dressed in red. Jamestown is very fortunate to have these businesses that are involved in their community and generous with their time and money.

As the Christmas shopping season approaches, please remember to visit the many Jamestown merchants that sell a wide variety of items - you're sure to find something for everyone on your list. What a pleasure to do business with a local merchant, rather than some anonymous big box store. I am very proud to say that I was able to do 100 percent of my Christmas shopping last year right here on island.

The Chamber is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Frisella, a Chamber member, as liaison to the Jamestown Traffic Commission.

The Jamestown Chamber of Commerce is well into its renewal season, and although many businesses have signed up, there are still many more businesses on the island that need to join or renew their membership.
