Jamestown chorus concert Dec. 8 - 9

A long-standing island tradition continues next weekend as the Jamestown Community Chorus presents its annual holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The concerts will take place at the Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown.

The Chorus' singers, over 50 in number, have prepared a varied program of holiday music, starting with the 13th-century "Alle Psallite Cum Luya," in Latin, that they will perform while processing to their places. Through the course of the concert, the songs will lead to the 21st century, with "Special Time of Year," by Jamestown's Sam Bari. Music from most of the centuries in between, and from several countries, will be represented in one way or another.

Look, as always, for the traditional sing-along portion of the concert.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and children and will be available at the door. Advance tickets can also be purchased from chorus members as well as three island businesses: The Secret Garden, Jamestown Hardware, and Baker's Pharmacy.
