Audubon Society hosts story time

Parents are invited to enjoy story time with their preschooler, ages 3 to 5, at the Audubon Society's Powder Mill Ledges Refuge center on Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The program includes a nature story reading and hands-on activities followed by a nature craft. This month's story is "Stranger in the Woods" by Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick. The program fee is $5 per member child, $6 per non-member.

All ages are invited to join naturalist and storyteller Susan Caplan on the year's shortest day, Dec. 22, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. as she weaves winter tales and shares some traditional solstice tidbits and treats. The program fee is $10 for each member adult/child pair, $5 for each additional member; and $15 for non-member adult/ child pairs, $7/each additional non-member.

Both events are located at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge, 12 Sanderson Rd. (Rt. 5), in Smithfield. For more information, visit online www.ASRI.org.
