Learn about trains at the SK library

The South Kingstown Public Library in Peace Dale will feature Rich Lysik, with "My Life on the Railroad," on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. Lysik has spent over 30 years working on railroads as a railroad engineer and transportation supervisor in southern New England and New York state.

His talk will cover how diesel engines work, why cabooses were dangerous, the features of safety equipment, and other topics.

The library will also host a "A Researcher in Post-Katrina New Orleans," a lecture by Dr. Rick Daniels, on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. Dr. Daniels has made over 25 trips to New Orleans since Dec. 2005 in his capacity as a researcher and consultant at New Orleansbased Delgado Community College.
