Tourney benefits youth hockey

The 39th annual John W. Kennedy Memorial Hockey Tournament will bring its nationally renowned brand of youth hockey to rinks throughout Rhode Island. The tournament will run from Jan. 16 through 21. Games will take place at hockey venues throughout Rhode Island, including Providence College's Schneider Arena, Cranston Veterans Memorial Rink, Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island Sports Center in North Smithfield, Thayer and Warburton Arenas in Warwick, the West Warwick Civic Center, Smithfield Ice rinks, Brother Adelard Ice Arena,, St. George's Cabot Memorial Rink in Middletown and the University of Rhode Island's Boss Arena.

The tournament is sponsored by the East Providence Hockey Association and the tournament proceeds benefit youth hockey programs. Last year the tournament presented every youth hockey association that applied a $1,200 cash gift to be used in instructional programs.
