Edward J. Capobianco, 84

Edward J. Capobianco, 84, of Bayberry Road, passed away Friday at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lydia M. (Ripanti) Capobianco for 58 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Oreste and Santina (Angeloni) Capobianco.

Mr. Capobianco was a U.S. Marine veteran who served in WWII in Iwo Jima, Japan and was present for the raising of the flag at Mount Suribachi.

He worked as a pipe fitter for Electric Boat and worked in plumbing and heating for Brown University and Salve Regina University before retiring.

He was a member of the American Legion- Jamestown Post. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Besides his wife, he leaves four children; Thomas E. Capobianco of Schenectady, N.Y., Patricia A. Brown of Staatsburg, N.Y., Joan M. Owens of Fortuna, Calif. and Edward J. Capobianco of West Chester, Pa.; a brother, Raymond Capobianco of Marco Island, Fla.; a sister, Lucy Russo of East Providence; and a grandson, Joseph T. Capobianco. He was the brother of the late Joseph Capobianco.

Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
