Dunkin' Donuts offers sweet scholarship opportunity

High school seniors and graduates are encouraged to apply for the Dunkin' Donuts Scholarship Program. Applications will be available beginning Feb. 1.

Dunkin' Donuts will award $100,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and college students from Rhode Island who excel academically, demonstrate leadership qualities, are involved with the community, and have clear goals for their future. The awards, which total $1,000 each, will be given out to a total of 100 recipients from the Southern New England area.

"We are so pleased to offer the Dunkin' Donuts Scholarship to the students in our communities once again," said Joe Prazeres, Dunkin' Donuts franchisee and chairman of the Dunkin' Donuts advertising committee for the Providence market. "We created this program in an effort to give back to those who support us every day, and we hope that these scholarships will help ease the financial burden of attending college for many of our local families."

Applicants to the Dunkin' Donuts Scholarship Program must be a high school senior or graduate who plans to enroll or is already enrolled in a course of study.

Students must be enrolled at least half-time in a baccalaureate degree program at an accredited college or university, an associate degree program at an accredited junior or community college, or a certificate program at an approved vocational or technical institute, and must be a resident of Rhode Island or Bristol County, Mass.

Eligible students can receive additional information by visiting participating Dunkin' Donuts stores.

Applications must be completed by March 15 for consideration.

The Dunkin' Donuts Scholarship program is managed by Scholarship America.
