Ethel M. Kitts, 86

Ethel M. (Diddlebock) Kitts, 86, of Howland Avenue, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, at home.

Born in Philadelphia on Aug. 9, 1921, she was the wife of the late William F. Kitts.

Mrs. Kitts was

a crossing guard at the Jamestown School for 15 years, before retiring in 2007. She was a communicant of St. Mark Church in Jamestown, where she was a Eucharistic minister for many years. Mrs. Kitts was a past member of Quononaquott Garden Club and the Newport Hospital Auxiliary.

Ethel was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed bingo, quilting, oil painting

and being with her family. Ethel's joy in life was her family, friends, and her pet cat PA.

She is survived by a son, Lewis W. Kitts, and a daughter, Ethel M. Botelho and her husband Richard, all of Jamestown; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Claytor of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Nathan Claytor and his wife Kimberly of Portsmouth; Rebecca M. Farrell of Newport; Richard W. Botelho, Jr. and his wife Michelle of West Warwick; Sara Sylvia of Little Compton; and William and Daniel Kitts, both of Jamestown; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late Henry H. Claytor.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave. Burial will be private.
