Help Jamestown's new animal shelter
      There will be an organizational meeting for the Jamestown Animal Shelter on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m., at the Jamestown library. Volunteers and board members are needed, but anyone interested in helping with the shelter in any way should attend the meeting.

Rec hours extended for vacation week
      The Open Rec program at the Recreation Center will hold special hours next week for school vacation. The Teen Center will be open for all students in grades 7 to 12 on Monday through Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Open Rec will be open to students in grades 3 to 6 on Tuesday to Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Children's dance classes offered
      The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department presents two new dance classes for island youth. Karen Sachetti, creator of SmartStart RI, will lead two Saturday morning classes at the Jamestown Country Club. "Little Dancing Feet!" is for children ages 3 to 5 years old, and will run from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

      The next session in the Jamestown Chamber Winter Breakfast Series will be Thursday, Feb. 28, from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the Bay Voyage Inn.
