Peggy Ann Matoes Harris, 77
Peggy Ann (Gardner) Matoes Harris, 77, of Tiverton, and previously of Jamestown, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Peter H. E. Harris and the late Raymond R. Matoes, Sr.
Born in Newport, she was a daughter of the late Palmer E. and Elma (Kirkland) Gardner.
She was a tour guide for the Preservation Society of Newport County for 25 years before retiring. She also worked as a waitress for the former Red Rooster Tavern in North Kingstown.
She was a member of the Doll Club of Swansea, Mass. and enjoyed square dancing. She loved yard sales and thrift store shopping.
She leaves a son, Bruce W. Matoes of Jamestown; two daughters, Donna L. Parris of Warwick and Shari L. Kluth of Newport; nine grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She was the mother of the late Raymond R. Matoes, Jr.
Her funeral was held Monday from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840 will be appreciated.
