The final talk in the Friends of the Jamestown Library Sailing Lecture Series will be today, Thursday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Matt Largess and he will talking about his experience coaching at the high school and collegiate level. To participate, individuals and businesses should turn off their lights for one hour, beginning at 8 p.m., on Saturday, March 29. The Conservation Commission will conduct a sand dune restoration project this Saturday, March 29, to repair dunes damaged in last fall's storm. They are seeking volunteers to help island teens and Scouts plant 11,000 beach grass plants. More ... Island sailor Bill Fortenberry will give a talk and slideshow on his travels to Sri Lanka on Friday, March 28, at the Portuguese American Citizens' Club. The Jamestown Women's Club has increased its two annual scholarships to $1,000 each. Applicants must be Jamestown residents and high school seniors who are planning to further their education.
