Residents, businesses, and other establishments of Jamestown may switch to 100 percent fully renewable sources of electricity without any investments, planning, approvals, waiting, and risks. The power is available through the Green Start program of People's Power and Light. The present cost (above your basic electric rate) is 2.4 cents per kilowatt hour. This additional cost is tax deductible (Alternative Minimum Tax aside) for residents and businesses. Jamestown had (and might still have) the highest percentage of Green Start members in the state of RI.
