Thanks for planting

On behalf of the Conservation Commission, I would like to thank all those involved in the sand dune restoration project at Mackerel Cove Beach.

Thanks to Mike Gray, our town engineer, and the Public Works crew for reforming the sand dunes and preparing them for planting of the beach grass.

Special thanks to all those who helped plant the 11,000 beach grass plants this past weekend: the leaders and scouts from Girl Scout Troops 865 and 710 and Boy Scout Troop 2 Jamestown. Thanks to Fred at House of Pizza for donating pizza for the hungry crew. Thanks to the teens from the Teen Center who helped, and thanks to the many other folks who came out to plant beach grass. Finally, thanks to Bruce Keiser, our Town Administrator for providing staff and funds to undertake this project.

Chris Powell, Chair Conservation Commission
