      On behalf of the Conservation Commission, I would like to thank all those involved in the sand dune restoration project at Mackerel Cove Beach. Thanks to Mike Gray, our town engineer, and the Public Works crew for reforming the sand dunes and preparing them for planting of the beach grass.

Art show a big success
      The Jamestown Arts Center would like to thank everyone who helped make our first fund-raiser art show "Collaboration" a huge success. The exhibit of almost 200 10-inch square works of art, submitted by three generations of Jamestowners, opened Friday night at the Schock Gallery, drawing a big crowd of art lovers and artists alike.

      Residents, businesses, and other establishments of Jamestown may switch to 100 percent fully renewable sources of electricity without any investments, planning, approvals, waiting, and risks. The power is available through the Green Start program of People's Power and Light. The present cost (above your basic electric rate) is 2.4 cents per kilowatt hour.

      The week of March 9, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Bay Voyage Inn on our honeymoon. The three questions we were asked most during the week were first, where were we from (the accent gave us away), second, why we were there and when told it was our honeymoon, the third was why Rhode Island?

Thanks to those who helped with cleanup
      I am writing to thank the hardy people who braved the wind and cold to help clean up Mackerel Cove beach last Saturday morning as part of my senior project. We filled nine large trash bags with litter, and collected a substantial pile of damaged lobster pots and other large Styrofoam pieces.

April 5 important day for pets
      On Saturday, April 5, the Town of Jamestown will sponsor a rabies clinic at the fire station from 11 a.m. to noon. This annual clinic sponsored by the Rhode Island Veterinarians Association offers rabies vaccinations at a very low cost. It is so important to have all pets receive this important vaccine.
