Driving an unsafe
Monica Stevenson, 19, of Newport was charged April 5 with driving an unsafe vehicle after callers reported a car driving erratically on eastbound Route 138 and police stopped and impounded it. The vehicle was later inspected by a Department of Motor Vehicles investigator and deemed unsafe for operation on the road, police said.
Stevenson was not held and an arraignment was scheduled for April 25 at Newport District Court, police said.
Suspended license charged
Jessica Tiang, 42, of Portsmouth was charged April 10 with driving with a suspended license after a routine traffic stop on North Main Road, police said.
Tiang was not held at the police station and an arraignment date was scheduled for April 23 at Newport District Court, police said.
Drunk driving and marijuana
John Viera, 50, of 35 Bryer Ave. was charged April 13 with drunk driving, refusal to take a Breathalyzer test, and marijuana possession after he was stopped on North Main Road near Luther Street for speeding and erratic operation of a vehicle, police said.
Vicara was held overnight at the police department where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for April 25 at Newport District Court, police said.
Drunk driving charged
Page Dickinson, 40, of 41 Arnold Ave., was charged April 13 with drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after she crashed her vehicle into the tow truck that was about to tow Viera's car after his DUI arrest, police said.
Dickinson was arraigned at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for April 25 at Newport District Court, police said.
