Drunk driving charged

William P. House, 36, of Saunderstown, was charged April 26 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test after he was stopped on Narragansett Avenue after sideswiping a guard rail near the toll plaza and for erratic driving, police said.

House was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 16 at Newport District Court, police said.

Alexander Thomas, 20, of Newport was charged April 27 with first offense drunk driving with a Breathalyzer reading of .10-.15 after being stopped at the toll plaza on Route 138 eastbound. State police called to be on the lookout for a drunk driver, police said.

Thomas was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 9 at Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license charges filed

Loretta Curtin, 43, of Saunderstown, was charged April 18 with driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for speeding on Route 138 westbound, police said.

An arraignment was scheduled for May 9 in Newport District Court, police said.

Deborah Ashe, 46, of Coventry was charged April 23 with driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for speeding on Route 138 eastbound, police said.

Michael J. Healey, 50, of Saunderstown, was charged April 26 with driving with a suspended license after a routine traffic stop on Narragansett Avenue, police said.

Possession of marijuana

charged

Alexander Smith, 20, of East Greenwich, was charged April 23 with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana after he was stopped for speeding on Route 138 eastbound, police said.

Smith was held overnight at the police station and pleaded no contest to both charges at Newport District Court the next morning. A review was scheduled for June 6, at which time Smith can produce a valid license and pay court costs for the suspended license charge. Smith paid $200 to the victim's fund for the first offense marijuana possession charge. The charge will be filed for one year, police said.

Michael Marchetti, 18, of Warwick, was charged April 26 with first offense possession of marijuana after he was found in Ft. Wetherill Park after hours, police said.

Marchetti was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 9 at Newport District Court, police said.

Bench warrant violation

charged

Amanda J. King, 18, of North Kingstown, was charged April 26 with violating a bench warrant issued by the Third District Court after she was stopped for being in Ft. Wetherill Park after hours, police said.

King was held at the Adult Correctional Institutions and further action is yet to be determined by the court, police said.

Probation violation charged

Joshua Olsen, 19, of North Kingstown, was charged April 26 with possession of marijuana, Superior Court bail violation, and violation of probation after he was found in Ft. Wetherill after closing time, police said.

Olsen is currently on probation for shoplifting and is out on bail for first-degree robbery. He was held and arraigned at the police station and was then transferred to the ACI where he is being held without bail until a hearing is scheduled by Newport District Court, police said.
