'Invisible Children' screening and club

The Jamestown Invisible Children Club at the Teen Center is now forming and will meet on Monday nights beginning May 12.

Invisible Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of people in Uganda. A war has raged for twenty years between the Ugandan government and the LRA, a rebel group that resorts to kidnapping children to turn into children soldiers. Millions of citizens have been placed in displacement camps with inhumane conditions. Because of Invisible Children's involvement, the United States has sent diplomats to Uganda to help promote peace and end the war. Now Invisible Children is hoping to bring people out of displacement camps and put children into schools and the teens of Jamestown can help make a difference.

The meetings will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and at the first session the group will begin brainstorming about fundraising ideas and awareness events. An informational movie about Invisible Children will be shown at the Teen Center on Friday, May 9, at 6 p.m. There will be refreshments and a discussion after the movie. Everyone is welcome to join the movement and see this moving film.
