Bryer re-elected as fire chief at annual meeting

The Jamestown Fire Department elected officers at its annual meeting May 1 at the fire station.

James R. Bryer Jr. was re-elected as the Chief of the Department for another two-year term. Bryer has served as chief since 2005. Also re-elected were Deputy Chief Kenneth M. Gladding and Deputy Chief Howard F. Tighe. Both have served since 2005 as well.

Capt. Roy M. Richardson and Lt. Bert A. Dickinson Jr. were elected as officers of Engine 1, Capt. Keith Godena and Lt. Thomas A. LaFazia were elected as officers of Engine 2, Capt. Brian D. Bryer and Lt. Steven J. Tiexiera were elected as officers of Engine 3. Capt. Michael D. Pinkshaw Jr. and Lt. Peter S. Roderick were elected as officers of Ladder 1, Capt. James R. Bryer Sr. and Lt. Paul B. Balzer Jr. were elected as officers of the Tanker Company and Capt. Alan D. Weaver Jr and Lt. James P. Ingari were elected as officers of the Training Company.

A special presentation was given to John "Jack" Brittain Jr., who retired from the department as an active member after serving over 32 years in the department. Brittain served as lieutenant and captain of Engine 1 in the mid-1990s.

Also, a special presentation was given to Joseph Perry who retired from the department as an active member after serving over 26 years in the department. Perry served as a lieutenant and captain of the Tanker Company during the 1990s.
