Lew Kitts was a Mother's Day hero

I would very much like to acknowledge the wonderful deed carried out by a wonderful islander. He saved my Mother's Day! My son plays baseball on the Jamestown school team and in the Babe Ruth League in Newport and mistakenly left both uniforms in his locker at school. He made this realization a mere 30 minutes before game time on Mother's Day and the game was being played at Cardine's Field in Newport.

I scrambled to call friends who might know Lew Kitts' cell number, as I knew he would have keys to get in the school and hoped beyond hope he was somewhere on the island and available to help us out of our fix.

Sure enough he was and he dropped everything to save the day. My son retrieved his uniform and went on to play in the game, while his proud mom sat in the stands cheering him on making it a lovely Mother's Day after all.

Thank you, Lew Kitts! Susan Lutes Jamestown
