Man-eating plants, ferns topics of nature programs

The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society will host a series of nature walks and lectures this summer.

Coming July 19 is a Carnivorous Plant Walk at the Great Swamp Wildlife Management Area in West Kingston.

The walk will be from noon to 3 p.m. and feature some pitcher plants, sundews and bladderworts. There is no fee. Call leader Doug McGrady at 248-2967 to register.

A talk called Ferns for your Landscape with Garry Plunkett will be on Sunday, July 27 at 10 a.m.

The fee is $5 for members and $7 for non-members of RIWPS.
