Local support helps repair home
First, I would like to recognize Sam Bari for his excellent article on the Narragansett Bay Workcamp, in the Jan. 31 edition. It was wonderfully written.
The workcamp received over 300 applications for free home repairs and, we have spent the last three months reviewing the applications and sites. We have 400 confirmed campers arriving in North Kingstown on June 29. We anticipate helping over 60 families with home repairs, with no cost to the homeowner for labor or materials.
The organizing committee, made up entirely of volunteers, has raised $28,000 to cover the cost of materials. I would like to thank the Jamestown Press and members of the community who have supported this effort.
There are still ways to get involved with workcamp. If anyone would like to volunteer to help during the week of July 5, please contact me at 295-5235.
Thank you! Julie Palazini Narragansett Bay Workcamps
