New parent support group meeting in Middletown

Caritas will hold a discussion on the problem of teenage drinking at their "Parent to Parent," event, scheduled for Tuesday, June 17.

The program will be led by parent volunteers who have been there and know the anguish of facing and dealing with their adolescent's substance abuse.

Every Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., parents are invited to come in for a free session. The last Tuesday of every month will feature an expert including emergency room doctors, drug court representatives, high school/college admissions offi- cers, police/computer experts. Also, each Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., parents will be offered free, one-half hour sessions to discuss in confidence their personal circumstances. A Parent to Parent 24 Hour Hotline has already been established for those in need. Call 489-1419.

The sessions will take place at the Caritas Middletown office, 1341 West Main Rd., Suite 14.

Funding has been provided in part by the van Beuren Charitable Foundation, Prince Charitable Trust, and The North Family Trust. Visit the Web site at www.caraitasri.org for updated Parent to Parent news.
