Two charged with

underage possession

Jamestown Police received a complaint June 7 at 12:20 a.m. of loud yelling and screaming and the possible smashing of beer bottles at the Newport Overlook resort at 150 Bay View Drive. When officers arrived, they found approximately 15 people having a party in one of the units. Alcoholic beverage containers were found throughout the residence, police said.

Some of the people attending the party were under 21 years old. However, only two people witnessed by police were in possession of alcoholic beverages. Both were charged with underage possession.

Eric Delorenzo, 19, of Coventry was charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person.

Delorenzo was scheduled for arraignment on July 18 at Newport District Court, police said.

The other person charged was a male juvenile, police said.

Drunk driving charged

Kenneth D. Bidlack, 43, of Newport, was charged June 8 with first offense drunk driving, refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, and possession of a 17-inch machete, a prohibited weapon, after police picked him up on Route 138 eastbound, police said.

According to police, Bidlack drove his vehicle off the roadway and proceeded to walk away from it when he was picked up.

Bidlack was held overnight at the police station where a June 9 arraignment was scheduled at Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license charges filed

Tracy L. Hagemoser, 35, of Narragansett, was charged June 8 with driving with a suspended license after police ran her license plate number and stopped her on Route 138 westbound.

According to police, a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for June 20 at Newport District Court.

Man held on multiple

vehicle charges

William Antone, 29, of Portsmouth, was charged June 6 with eluding police, a police chase suboffense, driving with a suspended license, and driving to endanger, resulting in personal injury, police said.

Police responded to a BOLO (be on the look out) from the state police advising them that a vehicle fled a traffic stop. Jamestown Police saw the vehicle cross the Jamestown Bridge and take the Hull Street exit. They chased the vehicle down North Main Road where Antone, the driver, lost control and crashed into a utility pole knocking out island electricity for more than three hours, police said.

Antone and the passenger were taken to Newport Hospital. He was released to the custody of State Police. Antone will be arraigned at Newport District Court at a date yet to be determined, police said.
