Central Baptist hosts festival this Saturday
Central Baptist Church's annual June Festival, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this Saturday, June 21, promises to offer something for everyone.
People interested in an evening of fine dining, a sunset cruise, a Red Sox baseball game, a day of kayaking, a round of golf or shopping in Wickford should visit the festival's silent auction. Also included in the silent auction will be a Mad River Explorer canoe; limited-edition prints and photographs; gift cards for area grocery stores; VIP passes to the International Tennis Hall of Fame and gift baskets.
A live auction will begin at 11 a.m. Items will include antique and more contemporary pieces of furniture, a Dewalt radial arm saw, computer desks, and paintings and prints.
The festival also will offer a flea market, a garden center, and a country store. Shoppers will find vintage items, books and videos, jewelry, children's toys and games and white elephants.
Great food will be served, including clam chowder, hamburgers, hotdogs, and strawberry shortcake. A variety of baked goods also will be on sale.
There will also be a raffle, with prizes that include an afternoon sail for four aboard a 41-foot cutter, Columbian pottery, a handmade quilt created in Jamestown, a handmade afghan created in Jamestown, and a gift certificate for Applebee's and a movie. Tickets are on sale for $1 each or $5 for a book of six.
