Jamestown athletes honored at senior night

The sixth Annual North Kingstown High School Senior Athlete Appreciation Night was held June 1 at the Quidnessett Country Club. Twenty-four islanders were among those seniors honored for their contributions to high school athletics.

Each athlete, their sports and any 2008 post-season honors are listed below.

Sam Andreozzi was awarded the North Kingstown High School Female Outstanding Athlete of the Year. Her 2008 postseason honors included for volleyball, team MVP, 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All State, All Tournament Team, RI Gatorade Player of the Year and she is a finalist for Cox Communications Volleyball Athlete of the Year.

She was also a member of the basketball team.

Leah Baines received 2nd Team All Division and the Team Sportsmanship Award for tennis. She was also a member of the indoor track and girls' lacrosse teams.

Haley Barber received Honorable Mention, All Division and the team Sportsmanship Award for field hockey.

Erin Brennan was honored as team MVP, 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All Class and 2nd Team All State for cross country. She received 1st Team All Division and 2nd Team All Class for indoor track, as well as 2nd Team All Class and 3rd Team All State for girls' outdoor track.

Chris Clark was 2nd Team All Division, All Academic for wrestling and 1st Team All Division for boys' track and field.

Jon Michael Degidio was honored for volleyball and being a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society.

Mike Donnelly received recognition for being a member of the soccer, basketball, and golf teams.

Abby Durand was honored for participation in football cheerleading, and competition cheerleading.

Rory Farrell was named 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All Class and 1st Team All State for indoor and outdoor track and field. He also received the Principal's Sportsmanship award for outdoor track. He was a member of the football and lacrosse teams.

Sydney Ferguson received 2nd Team All Division for girls' lacrosse and also played soccer, tennis and sailing.

Peter Imbriale was named 3rd Team All Division in outdoor track. He also participated on the indoor track and wrestling teams. He is a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society.

Caitie Kelly received 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All Class and 3rd Team All State for girls' track and field. She was a member of the girls' soccer and indoor track teams.

Cem Kurt received recognition for being 2nd Team All Division in wrestling.

Drew Matley was honored for participating in cross country, indoor track and boys' outdoor track.

Ben Nadeau received 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All State honors for soccer. He was also on the basketball and lacrosse teams.

Dan Page was recognized for his football and lacrosse participation.

John Perrotti was the team Co-MVP and 1st Team All Division in football.

He received 2nd Team All Division in track and field and was a member of the baseball team.

Tallie Pruell received All-Academic and Team Sportsmanship Awards in field hockey.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Rhode Island Honor Society and also was on the lacrosse team.

Kyra Reppe was 3rd Team All Division and 3rd Team All State in outdoor track. She was on the volleyball, soccer and basketball teams.

Jordan Segal was recognized for his participation in football, indoor track and track and field.

Ashley Smith was an Academic All American. She was a member of the soccer, basketball, indoor track and softball teams and a member of the National Honor Society and Rhode Island Honor Society.

Brett Uttley was Team MVP, 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All State, 1st Team All Tournament, 1st Team All New England, 1st Team All American, Gatorade Player of the year and a finalist for the Cox Communications Soccer Athlete of the Year in soccer. He was also a member of the basketball team.

Nate Wigton was team MVP, 1st Team All Division, 1st Team All Class and 1st Team All State for cross country and track and field. He was also 1st Team All State for indoor track.

Kelly Wooley was honored for her participation in tennis and swimming. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Rhode Island Honor Society.

A total of $23,400 was awarded in scholarships to many seniors including the following islanders.

The Robert E. Downey Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Caitie Kelly, Kyra Reppe, Ashley Smith, Ben Nadeau, Natalie Pruell, Rory Farrell and Brett Uttley.

The Jeffrey Monica Memorial Soccer Scholarships were awarded to Caitie Kelly and Brett Uttley.
