Two island boats first in class to Bermuda

See related pictures on page 19 Photos by Don Miller Six Jamestown yachts competed in the 635-mile Newport to Bermuda race, which started last Friday from Narragansett Bay's East Passage, just off of Conanicut Island.

Two of the Jamestown boats finished fi rst in their respective classes.

Here are the unofficial re sults, sc ored un der th e ORR, as of Wednesday morning. The results were posted on the Web site www.bermudarace.com:

Representing the Jamestown Yacht Club, Andrew Kallfelz's Tartan 41 Aurora finished fi rst in Class 2 with an elapsed time of 103 hours, 03 minutes and 26 seconds.

Jeffrey Urbina's Sabre 402 II Bodacious finished first in Cl ass 13 wi th an el apsed ti me of 10 1 hours, 43 minutes and 52 seconds.

James Bishop's J44 Gold Digger finished 12 th in Class 5 with an elapsed time of 129 hours, 12 minutes and 17 seconds.

Hap Fauth's RP69 Bella Mente finished ei ghth in Class 11 with an elapsed time of 76 hours 13 minutes 06 seconds.

Bruce and Dorsey Beard's Sabre 386 Esmeralde finished fi fth in Cl as s 15 wi th an el ap sed time of 110 hours, 01 minutes and 37 seconds.

Stephen de Voe's Swan 45 Devocean finished fifth in Cl ass 7 w i th an el apsed ti me of 11 2 ho urs, 51 minutes and 37 seconds.
