Farm activities at zoo next weekend
Roger Williams Park Zoo is offering up some good old fashioned family fun on July 11 and 12 with "Fun on the Farm," an event featuring a wide array of farm and country-inspired activities, entertainment and demonstrations.
Activities will take place in and around the zoo's Full Circle Farm exhibit and are set to include country-style musical performances by Jordan Cannady, milk tasting from Rhody Fresh, composting demonstrations by the URI Master Composters and Recyclers, and gardening demonstrations by the URI Master Gardeners.
Additional displays and activities will be hosted by local agricultural organizations including Casey Farm, Farm Fresh Rhode Island, and SVF Foundation (July 11 only), which donated a number of rare farm breeds to the Full Circle Farm exhibit. Visitors can also marvel at life-sized replicas of agricultural world record holders, such as the world's largest corn cob, smallest horse and heaviest apple.
A complete schedule of activities can be found on the zoo's Web site at www.rogerwilliamsparkzoo.org. Activities run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and are free with zoo admission. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 and zoo members are free.
