St. Matthew's fair this weekend

Don't miss St. Matthew's 77th Summer Fair to be held this Saturday, July 19, on the church grounds at 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. The hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

The fair will feature its famous lobster rolls, the Beech Tree Grill serving homemade chowder, hot dogs and hamburgers and a tropical tiki punch stand. A large selection of home baked goods will be for sale.

There will be children's games, a large selection of toys, a great selection of books, household furniture, small appliances, jewelry and attic treasures for all tastes and budgets. Mariners will find a Grumman aluminum sport canoe with sailing rig and motor as well as outboard motors for sale in the sports section.

Inside the Parish Hall, this year's silent auction will offer bidding opportunities for antiques and collectible items, lovely art work and attic treasures. Among the auction items are several special experiences including a cruise on the Schooner Arabella to your choice of the Caribbean, New England or Chesapeake Bay waterways, a slope side condo at Sunday River, Maine for a leaf peepers getaway, a winter week in a Cocoa Beach condo and a weekend for two at a boutique hotel located right on Park Avenue in New York. Another special item this year is a 2006 Grabner Happy Cat Lite, an inflatable catamaran. Proceeds of this annual event benefit the operation and outreach ministries of the parish.

St. Matthew's popular Thrift Shop will be open during the fair.
