Marijuana possession charged

Devin Brunette, 18, of North Kingstown, was charged July 12 with first offense marijuana possession after he was stopped for erratic driving on Route 138 east, police said.

Brunette was held at the police station and arraigned the next day. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for July 25 at Newport District Court, police said.

Underage possession

of alcohol charged

Anthony Scalora, 19, of 38 Narragansett Ave., was charged July 12 with underage possession of alcohol, after the car in which he was a passenger was stopped on Route 138 east for erratic driving, police said.

An arraignment was scheduled for July 25 at Newport District Court, police said.

Two charged with violation

of home confinement

William Rosener, 18, of 63 Conanicus Ave., was charged July 12 with violation of a court order for home confinement after the car in which he was a passenger was stopped for erratic operation on Route 138 eastbound, police said.

A Family Court date is yet to be determined, police said.

A juvenile, 16, of Jamestown, was charged July 12 with violation of a family court order for home confinement/accompanied by parents at all times after the car in which he was a passenger was stopped for erratic operation on Route 138 eastbound, police said.

Drunk driving charged

Darrell King, 21, of Woonsocket, was charged July 12 with drunk driving and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test after he rearended another vehicle at the toll plaza, police said.

King was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for July 25 at Newport District Court, police said.

Car theft charged

Christopher Gelinas, 41, of Moosup, Conn., was charged July 14 with driving a stolen vehicle after police, acting on a BOLO from the Newport Police Department, spotted and stopped the car on Route 138 eastbound, police said.

Police determined from information received from the Newport police that Gelinas had allegedly stolen his girlfriend's vehicle.

Gelinas was held overnight at the Jamestown Police Station. A date at Newport Superior Court had not been set at the time of this report, police said.
