The Senior Times
Hello to all! Hope you are enduring this heat wave, and I'm sure you are looking for some rain in the very near future. You are not alone!
If you're feeling the heat and humidity to excess, we remind you that the Senior Center is very comfortably air conditioned, and welcomes you. If you're feeling the pinch at the grocery stores as a result of a tough economy, constantly stretching your budget, we remind you that the Senior Center Meal Site serves delicious three-course luncheons every weekday at a cost of only $3 per person. Again, we welcome you. We just ask that you make a reservation by phone at 423-2658.
These meals are for seniors and disabled members of our community, and are not income related. If you're stuck in the house and feeling lonely, we remind you that there are old friends and new ones to be made that come frequently to the Senior Meal Site, to enjoy each other's company and companionship and we welcome you. If climbing the stairs presents a problem for you, we remind you that we have an elevator to serve you.
Meals are prepared in our Rhode Island Department of Health certifi ed kitchen by certified food handlers, and served on fine china, in clean, cool, pleasant and comfortable surroundings.
They are very tasty and consist of a soup or a refreshing salad for openers, followed by an entrée or a sandwich (your choice), refreshing ice cold milk, juices, bread/rolls and butter, and topped off by a delicious dessert or fruit if you have diet limitations. Tea and coffee are available as well.
Our gardens at the front entrance of the Senior Center are a beautiful sight to behold. The décor of the dining room, at the present time, displays the joys of summer at the beach - and all for the pleasure and delight of those who accept our invitation to come on down and enjoy the grand good things that are there especially to welcome and serve you.
Meals on Wheels are available for shut-in seniors of our community, and we can give you the information you need to enroll yourself, members of your family, or someone you know who is confined to their home.
Please call us at 423-2658 or 423-1026 for anything you want to know about these services to senior and disabled members of our community.
