'Run' to library for next book group

The next book to be read by the book groups at the Jamestown Library will be "Run" by Ann Patchett, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m. There will be no evening discussion in August.

Booklist gave "Run" a starred review. "The question of what makes a family is central to this luminous novel, Patchett's first since her award-winning "Bel Canto" in 2001. In extraordinarily fluid prose, Patchett unfolds this story to its epilogue-like fi- nal chapter as she illuminates issues of race, religion, duty, and desire."

The Jamestown library hosts two book discussions. The Evening Group meets on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. The Afternoon Group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. Both groups are facilitated by Library Director Judy Bell. The library is closed on Monday, Aug. 11, for Victory Day.

For more information, call the library at 423-7280. This book may be obtained through the Jamestown Library by placing holds on one of the many copies in the state available through the Ocean State Libraries. Registration is not required.
