Greg Abate plays jazz this Sunday
The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department Summer Music Series continues the season this Sunday evening, Aug. 10, at the East Ferry Memorial Square with a concert by one of Rhode Island's finest jazz musicians, international recording artist Greg Abate.
Abate is a world-class alto sax player, and his outdoor show in Jamestown is an event that music lovers should not miss.
Greg Abate is said by jazz reviewers to be one of the best postbebop alto players today. His playing is sincere, intense and swinging. Since graduating Berklee College of Music in 1971, Abate has gained international recognition performing with the likes of Ray Charles and the Artie Shaw Orchestra.
The concert takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is free to the public. Bring blankets or beach chairs and enjoy an evening of cool jazz at East Ferry. The show is co-sponsored by Integrated Management Solutions and Mary Meagher Design. The concert will be cancelled if rain should occur.
